Carlos Alcaraz has looked deadly on the tennis court recently. The young Spaniard is still riding the waves of his Wimbledon victory over Novak Djokovic in the final. Alcaraz has already two Grand Slam titles under his belt and he seems intent on adding more.
There is, however, one way to defeat him. At least Alcaraz’s German counterpart Alexander Zverev thinks so. Both players will participate in the Canadian Open next and have been enjoying their time off the court.
While Alcaraz is practically vicious on the tennis court, Zverev has found a way to defeat him. Both players recently played golf together and Zverev emerged victorious against the world number one.
The German posted a photo of the two of them on a golf course on his Instagram story. He captioned it with, “I have good news everyone. We have a chance against him in golf.”
Both Zverev and Alcaraz are in the main draw of the Canadian Open. Zverev will lock horns with Tallon Griekspoor in the first round. Alcaraz, on the other hand, will face either Bernabe Zapata Miralles or Ben Shelton.
Both players are coming into the tournament off of title wins. Zverev won the Hamburg Open in July, while Carlos Alcaraz won his maiden Wimbledon title. They will look to fine-tune their playing before the start of the US Open.
Carlos Alcaraz says he is a totally different person
World number one Carlos Alcaraz thinks of himself as a regular guy. But unlike other regular people, Alcaraz is the proud Wimbledon champion. Moreover, Alcaraz has a cabinet of titles and trophies he can boast about.
“I have the trophy in my living room over there [so] that every time that I have lunch, have dinner with my family, I see the trophy,” said Alcaraz. “It’s something that I [don’t want] to forget,” he added.

Alcaraz’s victory over Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon will be talked about in the years to come. He will be remembered as the one who rose to the challenge and thwarted Djokovic’s attempts at winning his eighth trophy at SW19.
Alcaraz will hope to carry this momentum into the Canadian Open as well. Carlos made his ATP Masters 1000 Canada debut last year. He, unfortunately, crashed out of the tournament in the first round itself. This time though, he hopes his fortune will be different.
“I remember that I [did] not [have] a good run last year in Canada. I came this year to change it, hopefully, to have a good run, better than last year,” said Alcaraz. “I think one year later, I’m totally different,” he added (via ATP Tour).
Carlos Alcaraz will treat this tournament as a way to get back into the swing of things, before the US Open. The Spaniard is the defending US Open champion, and all eyes will be peeled on this young prodigy.
