Venus Williams has officially confirmed that she will not be available to compete at the Australian Open, next year. She has revealed that she is targeting to be ready for the tournaments during Spring. She had to endure a tough season this year, failing to advance beyond the second round in any of the tournaments she participated.
To begin with, Venus was absent for several months at the start of 2023 after getting injured at the ASB Classic in Auckland. Later, in June she made a return at the Libema Open where she was knocked out in the first round. Wimbledon was her next stop, a Slam which she has won five times. Though she had a good start to her opening match, she suffered a fall and subsequently suffered a straight sets defeat.
So Vee won’t be playing anymore tournaments this year and is still healing from that fall at Wimbledon 😔
She is planning on returning March next year??(Miami open /Indian Wells) Which means no Australian Open again 😭
Atleast she will return completely healthy ❤️#QueenVee pic.twitter.com/Dasdumms1b

In August, Williams lost in the opening round of the Canadian Open to Madison Keys. But, she had a good outing in Cincinnati where she defeated sixteenth-seeded Veronika Kudermetova in the opening round before losing out to Qinwen Zheng in the second round. Her last outing was at the US Open, where she was ousted in the first round by Greet Minnen, 1-6,1-6.
She took to X(formerly known as Twitter) to post a video where she revealed that she has not recovered completely from the fall she suffered in Wimbledon. Continuing that, it may take more time to heal, she was hopeful to return to the WTA tour in March 2024. Thus, extinguishing any hopes of a wild card entry at the Australian Open in January.
