Former Croatian star Goran Ivanisevic was well-known for his tennis skills, back in his prime. Since his retirement though, he has turned his attention to coaching and has found success training Novak Djokovic. The Croat, however, has landed in trouble with his ex-wife recently.
Despite being constantly ranked among the best players during his time, Grand Slam titles had evaded Goran. That changed in 2001 though, as Ivanisevic created history when he won the title at Wimbledon. He was the first and only ever male tennis player to win the trophy as a wildcard.
Since then, Ivanisevic has been a part of history, as Djokovic broke records left and right. Goran is in the news again, for a very different reason this time. The Croat is about to take legal action against his ex-wife Tatjana Dragovic and their daughter Amber Ivanisevic.
A Croatian publication reported that Tatjana leveled accusations of domestic violence against Goran. Moreover, she also claimed that the court was overlooking the evidence. Ivanisevic took to social media to hit back at Dragovic, but his post has since been deleted.
Goran gave a sarcastic reply to Ttajana’s claims of being “a family abuser and the court’s favorite.” Ivanisevic will take her to court, for allegedly taking away what he earned while playing. “To start…the moment I dared to seek the money I earned before and during the marriage, which T.D. appropriated against all laws and contracts, I became a family abuser and the court’s favorite,” he wrote (via Tennis Up To Date).
Goran Ivanisevic joins the list of players who have been accused of domestic violence. While there is no evidence available to the public as of yet, hopefully, the matter will be investigated thoroughly.
Tatjana Dragovic’s history with Goran Ivanisevic
Goran and Tatjana were together for a long time. In 1998, the 25-year-old Croatian star saw a picture of Dragovic, who was 18 at the time, on the cover of a magazine and fell in love.
Goran had first noticed Tatjana while watching the show ‘FRIENDS’, as she had appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan. Ivanisevic did not know her, but he managed to get her number because he was one of the biggest stars in Croatia. Dragovic was not impressed with Goran when they had first met, but eventually fell in love.
They two dated for eleven years before they tied the knot in 2009. About four years into their relationship, Amber was born in 2004. Three years later, their son Emmanuel was born. However, their marriage did not last long, and the couple filed for divorce in 2013.
Since the couple went their separate ways, Goran Ivanisevic got married to Nives Canovic. Goran has found success as a coach and seems to be happy in his relationship.
