Novak Djokovic again established his authority on the sport by winning the Nitto ATP Finals. It is the first time a player has won seven titles at the event. Djokovic did not drop a set in the semifinals and final. He had lost to Jannik Sinner in the group stages but did not let it happen again. Djokovic’s victory was appreciated by Iga Swiatek, who had also won the WTA Finals at Cancun a few weeks ago.
Swiatek also had kind words about Sinner, who had reached the finals without losing a match. The Polish player posted a picture of Djokovic with the Nitto ATP Finals trophy. She said, “Incredible. Congratulations to Djokovic, also congrats to you Sinner for playing inspiring tennis this whole week.” Swiatek has been on vacation mode for the past two weeks.
Incredible. Congratulations @DjokerNole 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👑
Also congrats to you @janniksin for playing inspiring tennis this whole week.💪🏼 https://t.co/ZxQawGL5TB

Swiatek and Djokovic had confirmed their year-end rankings at the Finals event. While Swiatek had a much tougher route to retain her top spot, the Serbian needed one win to stay the world No.1. While Djokovic is set to play at the Davis Cup, Swiatek will continue her vacation after playing 79 matches this season. Both players will be keen to extend their stay on top of the rankings in the 2024 season.
Novak Djokovic aiming for triple title achievement in 2024 season
The 2023 season has seen Djokovic on the podium seven times. The 36-year-old took his 98th career title at Turin. He also secured his 50th win at the Nitto ATP Finals. Djokovic is only two trophies away from being the third player in ATP history to win 100 titles. Only Roger Federer and Jimmy Connors have won more titles than Djokovic.
The 24-time grand slam champion won the most titles on the ATP tour this season. He played in 12 events overall and reached the eight finals. Djokovic at least reached the fourth round in all of them. The consistency can take him to the triple-figure mark in titles next season. The Serbian needs six more titles to equal Federer’s record and 11 more to be on par with Connors.

Djokovic has already set the targets for the 2024 season. The world No.1 wants to win all four grand slams and Olympic gold. He is expected to cross the 100 titles mark by the end of the first half of next season. Djokovic is preparing for the Davis Cup, which is starting later this week, and can even play the doubles fixtures for Serbia if needed.
