Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki copy Shakira and Rafael Nadal

Novak Djokovic is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. His 23 Grand Slam titles are a testament to his skills with a racket on the tennis court. However, Djokovic has a funny side too, which makes an appearance every now and then. One of his funniest efforts is making a parody of Shakira’s song ‘Gypsy’.

Novak is a master impersonator. He has often been seen mimicking his peers and friends, particularly Maria Sharapova. In this particular instance, he did a hilarious impression of Colombian singer Shakira. The singer had written the song and Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal had appeared alongside her in the music video.

Novak partnered up with his compatriot Viktor Troicki to film the video. Djokovic appeared in a blonde wig, portraying Shakira, and Troicki was seated shirtless on a chair, playing Nadal.

This hysterical clip resurfaced on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) again a while ago. Djokovic and Troicki had filmed this in 2010, before the French Open.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion later reminisced about making this video with Viktor. “I really put a lot of energy and effort into that. I’ve tried to, you know, impress my partner who was sitting on the chair and playing a little guitar. I was shaking whatever I had in there. It was fun,” said Djokovic (via novakdjokovic.com).

Novak further added that he thought Nadal would be proud of his Shakira impression. He also disclosed that the video left him in splits, which calmed him before his match. Novak Djokovic had made it to the quarterfinals at Roland Garros that year, before falling to Jurgen Melzer. He has come a long way since then.

Novak Djokovic to star in his own music video?

The Serb is a man of many talents and it seems he is about to star in his own music video. At least that is what he promised social media influencer Justus Reid.

Reid moved to Serbia from the USA a few years ago. He wrote a song for Novak Djokovic and then flew to New York City, so he could play it for Novak in person.

Novak loved the song so much, he promised Reid that he would appear in the music video for it. “When I come back to Serbia, this is what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna repeat this but with the guitar and I’ll be part of the music video for the song,” said Djokovic.

Novak is currently playing at the US Open, having made it to the finals by defeating Ben Shelton. He is on the verge of winning his 4th title at the Flushing Meadows, and 24th overall career title. He will face Daniil Medvedev for a final showdown at Arthur Ashe on Sunday, September 10th.
