Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has been on a roll of late. His consistency and hard work have paid off, as he recently lifted the title at the China Open in Beijing. In a recent interview, Sinner revealed what helped him clinch the title.
Jannik had come under heavy criticism for missing the Davis Cup. However, it seems that the break worked in favor of him, and he reaped the rewards. The young Italian looked absolutely menacing when he faced off against Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.
Tennis players have an extremely busy schedule all year round. Therefore, it is important for players to manage their workload accordingly. It worked for Sinner, as he won 500 points, and almost cemented his place in the race to the ATP Finals.

Sinner utilized the break very well. He confessed that he worked on a few things, that aided him en route to the title in Beijing. While it may have come with the price of missing the Davis Cup, Sinner’s gamble paid off at the end.
“I tried new things and served a higher percentage, but it’s not enough. And it doesn’t mean I will always serve like this. The choice not to go to Davis was ultimately for that purpose, planning is done based on objectives,” said Sinner.
However, Sinner does not feel he has reached his peak yet. He thinks that there is still room for improvement when it comes to his movement on the court, serves, and volleys.
Jannik Sinner has had a remarkable year so far. He has made deep runs at a lot of the tournaments he has played in. Sinner won his first ATP Masters 1000 in Canada this year too, and will try to end this year on a high note.
Jannik Sinner has a busy schedule ahead
The 22-year-old has a busy few weeks ahead of him. Fresh from his title win in Beijing, Sinner will try to continue in that vein at the Shanghai Masters too.
His title run in Beijing was spectacular, to say the least. He defeated Alcaraz and Medvedev and impressed with his poise and skills on the court.
Immediately after the Asian swing, Jannik will head to Vienna and Paris. His spot in the ATP Finals is all but booked and then he plans to play the Davis Cup in the next round. “The schedule is Shanghai, then I will try to play Vienna and Paris. That’s it. Hopefully Turin and Davis Cup,” he said (via Tennis365).
Jannik Sinner won his first two rounds in Shanghai, defeating Marcos Giron and Sebastian Baez to make it to the next round. He will take on Ben Shelton next.
