Jannik Sinner is one of the most exciting young talents on tour at present. At just 22 years of age, Jannik has established himself as a future star. The young Italian has won a lot of fans with his charm and skills with a racket. While there is a lot that can be said about him, there is a lesser-known fact about Jannik too: he struggled with Italian.

Jannik was born in a village called San Candido in northeastern Italy, where people speak German. When he grew older and got serious about tennis, Jannik moved to Liguria to train at the Riccardo Piatti Academy. Sinner had a Croatian coach, Luka Cvjetkovic, and lived with his family at the time.
During an interview, Jannik opened up about living with Luka and struggling to communicate in Italian. “The only problem: the language. I had the basics of Italian. When Luka was not at home, I had to express myself in gestures with others,” said Sinner (via Tennis Tonic).
Jannik has come a long way since then. He has quickly established himself as a future star and has already formed rivalries with players like Novak and Carlos Alcaraz. Jannik has his parents to thank for pushing him towards tennis, and he is reaping the rewards of his dedication.
