There have been a lot of changes made in the coaching team of various players this season. The younger players, especially, are in their experimental stages. While some players are still struggling, others have seen positive changes. Holger Rune is one of the players who has been improving his form since the arrival of Boris Becker on his team. But Becker has warned Rune to be careful on the tour.
Rune is now playing at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. Becker has been closely monitoring Rune’s progress over the past few matches. He spoke about the need for strong personalities in players and the importance of showing one’s emotions. Becker said, “If Holger doesn’t follow the rules, he will pay a fine, as was the case with me.” The former player mentioned that he and Rune are a bit similar.

Boris has had rough years lately. After serving two and a half years in prison, Boris is back to tennis as a coach for Rune, and he’s afraid that if Rune doesn’t pay attention to his actions, he’ll end up doing some blunder like him and end up in tough situations.
The world No. 8 had played his opening match at the Nitto ATP Finals against Novak Djokovic. Even though Rune lost the match, he has never made it easy for Djokovic whenever they play on tour. Becker coached Djokovic earlier, and the 36-year-old felt uneasy about his former coach being with Rune. Djokovic was with Becker a few years back, and they maintain a healthy relationship.
Boris Becker feels Novak Djokovic got tired of him
Novak Djokovic was a different beast during the period from 2014 to 2016. The world No.1 had revealed in 2014 about the arrival of Becker as his coach. During the German’s three-year tenure, Djokovic had amassed 208 wins and lost 23 matches. The Serbian completed the career grand slam in 2016 after winning the French Open. It was one of the most successful partnerships in the game’s history.
But it suddenly ended in 2016 even though Djokovic was flourishing. It was mutually decided, but the specific reasons were not shared. After winning everything repeatedly, Becker felt that Djokovic was tired and wanted a break. Boris said in an interview, “I think he got tired, he took a break and so did I. The perfect love story has come to an end. There is nothing left.”

The 55-year-old then left for Germany and was the technical director of the tennis association. Becker has always been involved with the sport. Now, the former world No.1 focuses on improving Rune’s game. Becker and Rune have not mentioned how long they will be together. Their partnership has been working well, and Rune needs it now more than ever.
