Emma Raducanu has made a valiant comeback to the 2024 WTA tour after suffering from injuries last season. She had surgeries done on her wrists and was out of the tour for eight months. This year Raducanu has played in four events so far. She is also now reunited with her coach, Nick Cavaday. He has been Raducanu since this year’s Australian Open.
Raducanu has been with five different coaches in her career so far. She seems to have found the perfect mentor in Cavaday, as he has been watching her play since childhood. Raducanu feels that the familiarity sets him apart from the other coaches. The British player will be with Cavaday for the first time in almost a decade. He will hope to restore Radacanu’s glory on the court.

She had started her career with Nigel Sears as they split up in 2021. Raducanu went on to win the US Open title that season with Andrew Richardson, who departed a few days after the victory. She then had short stints with Torben Beltz, Dimitri Tursunov, and Sebastian Sachs. But this time, the partnership looks strong as Raducanu will hope for a good outing on the tour this season.
Emma Raducanu hits back at public backlash over dinner at Doha
Raducanu played two events in the Middle East last month. She lost straight sets in the second round at Abu Dhabi to Ons Jabeur. While her defeat disappointed fans, the disappointment turned into outrage a few hours later. The 21-year-old was seen attending the official opening of the One&Only One Za’abeel hotel in Dubai. She was scheduled to play at Doha a few days later.
Raducanu lost in the opening round at the Qatar Open as fans blamed her loss on attending the party in Dubai. Raducanu hit back at the backlash, saying, “I think that I trained three hours of tennis, an hour and a half in the gym, and had two hours off in the evening. But I don’t know, you should tell me what I should do in my off time from 8 pm till 10pm.” She went on to talk about having an everyday life outside the court.
