The US Open is just around the corner and the anticipation has reached a fever pitch. Amid the hectic schedules and last-minute preparations, the event organizers are keeping fans entertained. How, you might ask? By releasing short, funny clips of the tennis stars, of course.
The US Open‘s official account has shared a new video clip. This time, the players were asked what their favorite pastime in New York City is. The answers were diverse and revealed just a little bit more about our favorite players.
Rising American teenage star Coco Gauff loves to catch a Broadway show when she is in the city. She likes to people-watch too. Frances Tiafoe, who had a good run at the Flushing Meadows last year, hits his favorite food joint.
Central Park, Broadway shows and good eats…

Daniil Medvedev, the former US Open champion, loves to visit a particular restaurant. Gauff’s doubles partner Jessica Pegula also loves to go to shows when she is in the city.
Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka both love to walk around and take in the sights. Djokovic also loves to visit the famous Central Park. Defending champion Iga Swiatek wants to visit a particular, very, immersive theatre again. Carlos Alcaraz had a very straightforward answer, that he would visit the Empire State Building.
As for Ons Jabeur, “Date nights are really good in New York,” she thinks. Jabeur, quite unsubtly added that the message was for her husband.
Alcaraz, Jabeur, and Djokovic are just a few of the stars to watch out for at the US Open. Will the defending champions successfully fend off others or will someone new take the crown? We will find out in a few days time.
Tennis fans slam the US Open for “bias” towards Carlos Alcaraz
The tournament is yet to begin, but it has already come under fire from fans for alleged bias. In a now-deleted tweet, the new poster featured Alcaraz front and center, while Djokovic, and Venus Williams, were sidelined in the eyes of fans.
They slammed the US Open for showing apparent bias towards Alcaraz while disrespecting legends like Novak. Here are a few reactions.
A lot of ‘mistakes’ in this poster. First one, Novak Djokovic, so small (23 GS and 3 US Open, N2, next N1 maybe, GOAT), the same size than Ruud ; Sabalenka, smaller than Venus Williams,…I could go on but I’m tired. And tired of disrespectful stuff like this

Honestly they did Novak dirty https://t.co/wIotorxS5b

Do you guys always do this on purpose? That is a disrespectful image to Djokovic. But he’ll instead be pleased to see wheelchair players in the poster.

While some fans may be upset about the poster, it has no bearing on the outcome of the tournament. The last Grand Slam of the year begins today.
