The match took a controversial turn during the second set when Olivo, serving at 1-1, was called for touching the net after a long rally point. However, this seemingly innocuous decision by the umpire led to a heated confrontation.
Following the net-touching call, Olivo’s immediate reaction was one of disbelief and outrage. Showing his frustration, he contested the call with the chair umpire, expressing his dissent with gestures and vocal protests. As he argued with the chair umpire, he was hit with a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct.
However, Olivo’s frustration showed a more aggressive turn as he hurled his racquet towards the umpire’s chair in a rage. The act crossed the line, leading to another violation from the chair umpire. This caused a complete meltdown for the Argentinian player, who unleashed a kick on the umpire’s chair, resulting in disqualification from the match.

“He charged me a touch, he is a criminal,” Olivo allegedly said while kicking the umpire’s chair. The incident reminded fans of the Russian star, Andrey Rublev who was defaulted from his Dubai Open match against Alexander Bublik after he lost his cool on the line umpire. However, the Russian later apologized for his reckless behavior. But in this case, Olivo accused the chair umpire of a fraudulent act.
