SUMMARY
- Lindsey Vonn was shocked to see the aftermath of her tweet regarding the GOAT debate in tennis.
- Lindsey Vonn deleted her tweet because of arguments among fans about Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer being the GOAT.
The sport of tennis has been revolving around a few players in the recent past. In the ATP tour, there has been a clear dominance of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the past two decades. There have been endless debates on who is the GOAT in the game. The latest victim to be a part of this debate has been Lindsey Vonn.
The American ski racer posted a tweet with Federer after spending a day at the ski resort in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Vonn only praised the Swiss maestro and described him as the GOAT of tennis. The tweet offended fans over Vonn not choosing Djokovic, given the current statistics of the game. Vonn deleted the tweet and later explained that it was her own choice.
The fact Lindsey had to delete this tweet…
It’s a shame, because Nadal, Djokovic and Federer have given the sport so much, and all 3 of them would be *disgusted* at some of the language used to defend *them*.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a favourite player, go… pic.twitter.com/7R7DEEJuCh

GOAT or greatest of all time is a subjective title. What makes someone great? Is it statistics? Is it records? Is it impact? Is it character? Is it all of the above? People have differences of opinion and that’s OK. My goat might not be your goat and there will always be a debate…

Vonn forced to delete her initial tweet after receiving hate for claiming that “Federer is the GOAT no matter what numbers say”.
Kinda crazy what this website is becoming.
She kept the original text on Instagram. For now. https://t.co/w4hqx5BQ7N pic.twitter.com/eH0PjpnqJT

The 39-year-old was disappointed with the treatment of the fans towards the tweet. She said, “GOAT or greatest of all time is a subjective title. He can be my goat no matter what other people think.” While Vonn and Federer were skiing in Switzerland, Djokovic at the same time was skiing at Val Gardena Ski Resort. He has been spending time in Italy while taking a break from the tour.
Novak Djokovic is a few titles away from breaking Roger Federer’s record
The 2024 season stands as yet another year of possibilities for Djokovic. He is currently placed third among the most titles won in men’s singles history. Only Jimmy Connors and Federer have won more titles than the Serbian. The world No. 1 has won 98 titles so far and is five from equaling Federer’s record. Connors leads the list with 109 titles.
The 36-year-old had won seven titles in the 2023 season, the most on the ATP tour. Chances are high that Djokovic will equal the record of his former Swiss rival. Since 2018, Djokovic has at least won four titles per season. Last year, he won four titles in the second half of the season. In terms of career wins, Federer and Connors have a huge lead over Djokovic.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion has 1094 career wins and 215 losses. Federer has 1251 wins, while Connors ended up with 1274 wins. The career wins record is not within the reach of Djokovic, but he can aim to break the records in terms of titles. He also has to rest well to be in the best shape during the Paris Olympics, which is also an important event this season.
