Tennis fans have been lucky enough to always have historic rivalries in the game. From John McEnroe versus Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras versus Andre Agassi and the latest big three in the game. At present, one of the rivals which has taken centre stage is Jannik Sinner versus Carlos Alcaraz. Both players are some of the hardest hitters in the game, and their matches never fail to live up to the standards.
Sinner was facing Alcaraz for the seventh time on tour at the China Open. The semifinal match was expected to be a tough one, and it turned out in style. Sinner notched up his fourth win over Alcaraz in just under 2 hours at Beijing. The matchup was the biggest thriller at the Asian swing for the fans.

The 22-year-old will also be the new world No.4 with the win. He created history as he was second in his country after Adriano Patta to reach the top five in the rankings. Patta had reached the same position in 1976 at the end of August. Sinner will now be Daniil Medvedev in the final of the China Open. Medvedev has never lost against Sinner, but now the fans will be showing full support for the Italian.
Jannik Sinner gives out knockout punch to Carlos Alcaraz at Beijing
Carlos Alcaraz started well on the Asian swing and was increasing his fanbase. The mighty forces of Italy abruptly stopped him. Sinner hit 19 winners and averaged 132 mph on his first serve during the match. The Spaniard won two breakpoints in the first set but could not win one in five attempts in the next set. Sinner completely ambushed the two-time grand slam champion at the China Open.
The fans could not believe that Alcaraz lost five consecutive games in the second set. Players rarely get to dominate Alcaraz like this. One fan commented,” Alcaraz got smoked holy shit.” The China Open gave a major shock to the fans. Some said that he deserved to win the final against Medvedev to take the title. Sinner has the crowd behind to record his first win over the Russian.

Fans were also impressed by how well he was hitting the ball in the semifinal. “Jannik’s forehand was out of this world. Damn He blew Alcaraz away.” Sinner will need to bring out the same groundstrokes in the final.

Sinner is two wins away from completing 50 victories on the tour this season. He has only lost 13 matches this season. Meanwhile, Medvedev has already won two finals against Sinner this season. They had played at Miami and Rotterdam. This time, the world No.3 does not look like the favourite in the final.
