Carlos Alcaraz will be preparing to get back to the court. His rankings have been strengthened with the recent victory, and it’s his 29th week on top overall. Alcaraz’s explosive power on the court was visible in the past two weeks at Wimbledon. Winning two Grand Slams at the age of twenty is no small feat, as it was earlier done by Rafael Nadal.
Spain has produced champions of clay over the past two decades. Players are taught to hit hard and attempt every ball on the red dirt. Alcaraz has the same die-hard spirit as young Nadal; players try till the last point and play like their life depended on it. The world No.1 has been playing from a young age and has already shaken up the tour.
The young Spaniard was introduced to the sport by his father, Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez. Gonzalez was a professional tennis player ranked as high as No.963 in 1990. He then started working as an academy director of Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia. This was where the now Wimbledon champion first picked up a racquet when he was four years old.
Carlos Alcaraz still staying at his childhood residence
Alcaraz has not changed his residence since becoming a professional. With over $18 million in career earnings, he still stays with his parents at El Pamar. Their residence has been refurbished as his tennis career has provided extra support for the family. Gonzalez also used to run a real estate agency until he started focusing full-time on the academy. Alcaraz has two younger brothers, and both of them play tennis.
When asked about the relationship with his parents, Alcaraz responded “Obviously, my parents control the money for me. To buy some golf clubs, which I love; I don’t ask permission, but for a good car, yes. I’m still fighting it. My father is tougher and my mother less, so to go out and those things I tell my mother. I don’t have time as such, but they always tell me ‘don’t be late.”
His mother, Virginia Garfia Escandon was recently working at IKEA. She has chosen to stay out of the limelight. The couple were seen at Wimbledon, they were watching most of his matches.
The young tennis star has purchased plots nearby his childhood residence. He wants to build a new home for his parents. The plots are near their current residence. Alcaraz has made his academy and family proud with his achievements and will continue to do so.
