Temetrius Jamel popularly known as “Ja” Morant is an American basketball player who currently plays in the NBA for the Memphis Grizzlies. He was born on August 10, 1999, in Dalzell, South Carolina. 

He had his breakthrough for the college team Murray State Racers, where he debuted on November 2017.

He was drafted during the NBA draft of 2019 by the Memphis Grizzlies. He had an impressive first season and was named Rookie of the Year. 

He made his first playoff appearance against the San Antonio Spurs in December 2020. In spite of an impressive performance, the Grizzlies were eliminated. 

Morant penned a contract extension of five years with the Grizzlies in July 2022. He was also named to the NBA All-Star game for the second time in his career in 2023.

Ja Morant and Kadre Dixon met at Murray State University in Kentucky and began dating back in 2017. They have a three-year-old daughter together named Kaari.

Dixon is the founder of Dixon Brands, LLC and has also authored a children’s book. The sportswoman turned entrepreneur has over 40 K followers on her social media and often posts pictures of Ja and her daughter together.

On July 6, 2022, Ja Morant signed a 5-year contract extension with the Memphis Grizzlies. The contract is rumored to be worth $193 million. The contract can further increase up to $233 million if he owns the MVP or gets selected for the All-NBA team of the season.

Ja Morant’s business and endorsements

Ja Morant has endorsement deals with BodyArmor and Nike. His Nike deal dates before he even signed for the Memphis Grizzlies.

He has also invested in Hyperice on October 2020 and today the investment is valued at $47.8 million.
