Temetrius Jamel popularly known as “Ja” Morant is an American basketball player who currently plays in the NBA for the Memphis Grizzlies. He was born on August 10, 1999, in Dalzell, South Carolina. 

He had his breakthrough for the college team Murray State Racers, where he debuted on November 2017.

He was drafted during the NBA draft of 2019 by the Memphis Grizzlies. He had an impressive first season and was named Rookie of the Year. 

He made his first playoff appearance against the San Antonio Spurs in December 2020. In spite of an impressive performance, the Grizzlies were eliminated. 

Morant penned a contract extension of five years with the Grizzlies in July 2022. He was also named to the NBA All-Star game for the second time in his career in 2023.
