Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pelé was born in Três Corações on October 23rd, 1940. At the early age of 15, he made his first appearance for Santos. He won multiple trophies including the Brazilian League and the Copa Libertadores during his time at Santos.
While playing for the national team, Pele triumphed in three FIFA World Cups: in 1958, 1962, and 1970. He is also the youngest World Cup winner at just 17. Pelé is Brazil’s most successful goal scorer, with 77 goals in 92 games.
In 1975, Pele signed for the New York Cosmos during the initial stages of his career. He also won a couple of trophies with the American club.

At the time of Pelé’s death, he had accumulated a significant net worth of $100 million. Despite receiving offers from prominent teams, Pelé remained loyal to Santos and stayed in Brazil Brazil.
Pelé’s professional playing career ended on August 28, 1977, after he led the New York Cosmos to a 2-1 victory against the Seattle Sounders in the Soccer Bowl championship held at Civic Stadium in Portland, Oregon.
He then participated in an exhibition match between Cosmos and Santos on October 1, 1977, marking the end of his career.
Pelé had an exceptional career, excelling in both club and country football. He holds a Guinness World Record for scoring 1,279 goals in 1,363 games, including friendly matches.
He played for Santos and New York Cosmos during his soccer career and won numerous pieces of silverware. He is also the most successful player at the FIFA World Cup winning it thrice.
Pelé married three times and fathered seven children. Pele’s first wife’s name was Rosemeri dos Reis Cholbi. He tied the knot with her in 1966 and had three children with her. Ultimately the pair parted ways in 1982.
Then Pele married Brazilian singer Assíria Nascimento in 1994 and they welcomed their twins into the world. Then the duo split in 2008.
He then married Marcia Aoki in 2016 and lived the rest of her life with her.
On 29th December Pele passed away at 82 in Sao Paulo’s Albert Einstein Hospital after a long fight with cancer.
The soccer fraternity was shocked when the news broke out that the legend had passed away.
