Erling Haaland who took the Premier League by storm last season was one of the fastest players in the league. Data analysts found it hard to explain how someone who is 6’4” tall and has a weight of over 94 kg runs so fast like a sprinter or a traditional winger. Some have even compared his running to that of an ‘Ostrich’.
While growing up, Haaland was into several kinds of sports and athletics. Handball, long jump and running. From handball, he learned how to take knocks. He learned how to keep his body in perfect balance from the long jump to get the maximum result. During his long jumping days, he even broke the record for the Under 6 category with a jump of 1.63 meters.
And finally, all his training from running as a kid resulted in the explosive bursts of runs he executes on the field. He has managed to combine all of his qualities as he sprints with perfect coordination.
When Haaland runs, it can be noticed that his shoulders are hunched and he keeps his head down just like Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt. He also keeps his arms locked up in perfect motion with his legs which makes him way faster than a normal number 9 as during his Dortmund days he clocked in a speed that was similar to that of Gareth Bale and Kylian Mbappe.
What is Erling Haaland’s training regime?
Erling Haaland scored more than 50 goals last season in all competitions which helped Manchester City win the treble. To be the main man for a team like Manchester City requires special training and discipline. Haaland follows a rigorous training routine and a diet where he consumes about 6000 calories a day.

During lockdown, while Haaland was at Dortmund he was under the supervision of professional trainer Lucas Kruel who had other soccer clients too. He still to to this day follows the guidelines provided by Kruel. Haaland wanted to be prolific enough to score with both feet so he also underwent training with Alexander Zickler who was a former Bayern Munich striker.
🎙️ Jack Grealish: “Haaland’s the best pro I’ve ever seen. His mindset is something you won’t see again. He does everything. Recovers. Gym. 10 hours of treatment a day. Ice baths. Diet. That’s why he is what he is. But I swear I couldn’t be like that.

Haaland is also into Yoga and his daily routine involves the likes of cardio, rowing machine, HIIT sprints, biking and finally strengthing and conditioning. He also has a $60000 cryo-chamber in his house to help his body recover after games just like his idol Cristiano Ronaldo. It can be safe to say that if Haaland maintains this routine he will also have a long career at the top just like the Portuguese icon.
