- The energy drink is quite popular among young fans and lately they have been sponsoring top clubs like FC Barcelona, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
PRIME is a hydration brand that offers a range of sports and energy drinks. Since bursting onto the scene in 2022, the global brand has left its mark on the market share in its product segment. The drink is backed by famous internet celebrities like KSI and Logan Paul and has been applauded for their new-age marketing techniques and promotion.
Since 2023, the brand has moved in on some of the biggest soccer teams and athletes around the world. They have signed teams like Arsenal in the English Premier League, FC Barcelona in La Liga, and Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. They have also signed deals with other entities like UFC and LA Dodgers which has improved their digital footprint in the market.
PRIME has a global audience and a passionate customer base that help the brand with valuable user-generated content. However, the soccer teams under PRIME have yet to chip in with similar success, as a similar pattern has emerged.
Soccer teams sponsored by PRIME are falling behind
All three soccer teams that are being sponsored by PRIME are falling behind in their respective domestic leagues. Arsenal were top of the table at one point of time in the current season of the Premier League. However, they have fallen off to third place with 52 points in 24 matches.
They are two points behind Liverpool, who are currently at the top with 54 points, having played one more match than Manchester City in 2nd place with 52 points. The London-based club is the third favorite now to win the league title.
Had to be a perfect night for Barcelona – but struggles can’t stop for Xavi.

FC Barcelona is also third in the league, but they are way behind the league leaders, Real Madrid. Barcelona are 10 points behind Real Madrid with only 51 points from 24 games. They are even five points behind this season’s surprise package, Girona, who sits in 2nd place with 56 points.
The biggest surprise comes in the Bundesliga as the defending champions Bayern Munich are in second place behind Bayer Leverkusen. The Munich side has won the German league for the last 11 seasons and this would be the biggest shock in European soccer if they didn’t retain the title even after signing Harry Kane at the start of the season.
While the performances of these teams have nothing to do with the sponsorship of PRIME hydration. However, soccer fans are a superstitious bunch and it wouldn’t be far-reaching for them to link the struggles of their team with their latest sponsorship deals.
Athletes sponsored by PRIME aren’t affected by this curse
While soccer teams are struggling with the PRIME curse the same cannot be said for the athletes who have endorsement deals with the brand. PRIME has several athletes from various sports under their belt. They have deals with renowned names like Patrick Mahomes, Erling Haaland, Auston Mattews, Israel Adesanya, and many more.

This so-called curse is yet to leave its mark on athletes like Patrick Mahomes and Erling Haaland, who continue to excel in their respective sports. Patrick Mahomes recently won the MVP at the Super Bowl 58 while Haaland still leads the Premier League scoring charts with 16 goals.
It is up to the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich to prove this curse wrong and reclaim their lead at the top of their respective leagues. Meanwhile, for FC Barcelona, the only hope remains the UEFA Champions League which returns this week with its knockout rounds.
