Haddish tried to communicate verbally with Shakira, but she didn’t stop there. She then started to photobomb Shakira’s pictures, causing an awkward situation on the red carpet of the event.
After going viral on social media, the incident attracted a lot of attention. Tiffany Haddish was seen photobombing the “Hips don’t lie” singer twice during the awards show which stoked the fires of controversy.
Haddish’s response received mixed reviews from Twitter users. One fan said, “This is your problem, you don’t read the room. It’s not about you being “popular”, you’re being called out because you’re annoying lol plain and simple. You don’t think screaming while following her and ruining her photos is a bit much? Like have some decorum girl…”
On the other hand, a certain group defended her actions as harmless fun and labelled the situation as “super funny” to them.
How Tiffany Haddish responded to the MTV VMAs criticism
Tiffany Haddish has responded to the backlash in her own distinctive way, despite the fact that her pursuit of Shakira raised questions and sparked a storm of criticism on social media.
When people make videos about me or talk about me Good or bad. I just think Thank you all for making me more famous and relevant. I see it’s driving the enemy crazy cause they really want to be where I am, It will never happen. 😂😂😂😂😂

In the wake of constant trolls and criticisms across social media platforms, Haddish took to Twitter to address the chatter. She tweeted, “When people make videos about me or talk about me Good or bad, I just think Thank you all for making me more famous and relevant. I see it’s driving the enemy crazy because they really want to be where I am. It will never happen.”
Haddish, however, went beyond Twitter. She spoke about the viral interaction when she appeared on Hot 97’s Ebro In the Morning. She spoke with hosts Laura Stylez, Peter Rosenberg, and Ebro Darden and was open about her actions at the awards ceremony.

Haddish acknowledged, “I was moving aggressively,” in reference to her persistent angling for Shakira’s focus. She clarified that she wanted to have few words with the music legend in a “quick conversation” about the possibility of working together on some music-related projects.
The comedian and actress concluded her response to the incident with a humorous and light-hearted offer. She expressed her willingness to be a background dancer in one of Shakira’s music videos, quipping, “I’m telling you right now Shakira, my hips don’t lie.”
