Paul Scholes retired from Manchester United in 2013 before Lingard was promoted to the main team of the English club. The duo wasn’t teammates at any point, however, judging by the comment it is safe to assume that the duo must have had a relationship in some regard that prompted Scholes to call out Jesse Lingard about his playing career.
Lingard is only 31 years old and still has a lot to offer to teams in the Premier League. The January transfer window is open, this comment might finally push Lingard to find his new club in either the Premier League or Saudi Arabia.
