Newcastle United’s center-back, Jamaal Lascelles grabbed headlines after a video footage of him in a street brawl went viral on social media.
In a recent incident captured on video, a Newcastle defender finds himself embroiled in a brawl during a night out following the team’s defeat in the Premier League to Manchester City. The 29-year-old captain of the Magpies reportedly became the target of aggression from a group of ‘six to eight men’.
After the team’s 1-0 loss against Manchester City, the center-back returned to Tyneside and decided to spend the evening socializing with his younger brother and a friend. This night out occurred during a two-day break granted to the team by their manager, Eddie Howe.
The situation escalated as they exited the Chinawhite nightclub. Allegedly, a man initiated an unwarranted attack by elbowing Lascelles’ 19-year-old brother in the throat. In response, the defender intervened by pushing the aggressor away.

However, the tension didn’t dissipate as a bottle of vodka was reportedly hurled towards Lascelles, narrowly missing his head. Subsequently, a group of ‘six to eight’ men supposedly launched an attack on the 29-year-old, subjecting him to punches from multiple angles.
Newcastle has already been informed about the incident and has reviewed the available video footage. They have asserted their intention to handle the matter internally, indicating that they will address the situation within the organization.
Lascelles became a part of Newcastle United in 2014 at the age of 20. Throughout his journey, he has contributed to the team with a total of 225 appearances, showcasing his abilities on the field by netting 14 goals and providing four assists. Notably, he took on the role of club captain back in 2016.
