Mohammed Kudus has continued his amazing form this season in West Ham’s latest Premier League game against Newcastle at St. James’ Park. The match started with Newcastle scoring from the spot in the 6th minute after Anthony Gordon smartly won the penalty. Alexander Isak scored the goal and gave the Geordies something to cheer about after recent news of a potential new ban on their marquee summer signing, Sandro Tonali.
However, their jubilation did not last long as Michail Antonio scored a stunning goal to put West Ham on level. The Hammers soon took the lead in the 3rd minute of the first half injury time after a majestic strike from the Ghana international, Mohammed Kudus. Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka had no chance of saving the top-corner strike from the ex-Ajax player.

But, in a humorous moment, a Newcastle ball boy stole the moment from Kudus. So what happened? Immediately after scoring the goal, the West Ham star wanted the stool from the ball boy beside the fence. As soccer fans know, Mohammed Kudus has an iconic celebration where he sits on a stool after scoring a goal. But, after the ball boy refused, Kudus had no other choice but to sit on the fence with his teammates to celebrate the goal.
Newcastle upset West Ham in a Premier League thriller despite Mohammed Kudus’ heroics
Both Newcastle and West Ham have had disappointing domestic league campaigns. While the London-based club languished in the 7th position, the Saudi-owned club had an even worse season. Ahead of today’s match, Newcastle United had 12 wins and 12 losses with 4 draws. Even in today’s match, they were down 1-3 till the 77th minute.
However, a lot of credit will go to the manager Eddie Howe who made key substitutions during the match to turn the tie around. Their equalizer came from another penalty which Alexander Isak scored comfortably. After that, it was the Harvey Barnes show as the former Leicester City player ripped West Ham’s defense apart to score two massive goals. Although Anthony Gordon was sent off in the 90+4th minute, NUFC held on to their 4-3 lead.

With the win, Newcastle has moved up to the 8th position in the league. While they are currently 10 points behind the 5th-placed Tottenham Hotspurs (53 points), NUFC are just 4 points away from Manchester United (47 points) with 43 points in their tally. Although a Champions League spot may be out of their reach as things stand, Newcastle may be able to string up enough points to secure a Europa League spot next season.
