Pep Guardiola’s cameo in Ted Lasso
During an episode from season 3 of the series, Lasso’s team squared off against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad in a crucial Premier League tie. There, it could be seen that the Spanish manager made a special cameo appearance as the manager of Manchester City.
Unlike in reality, Guardiola’s team went down to AFC Richmond following a nail-biting encounter. After the final whistle, Guardiola could be seen making the customary handshake with Lasso.
Upon being told by Lasso that Manchester City is a tough team to beat, Guardiola replied, “Don’t worry about the wins or losses. Just help these guys be the best version of themselves on and off the pitch. This, in the end, is the most important thing.”

Following his dialogue delivery, Guardiola goes on to reconnect with Jamie Tartt, who once played for his side in the show before joining AFC Richmond.
The show also featured former Premier League players named Jay Bothroyd and George Elokobi. The duo could be noticed walking out onto the pitch before the game. Bothroyd played in the Premier League 62 times, having had stints at Coventry, Blackburn, Charlton, and QPR. Meanwhile, Elokobi made 59 appearances for the Wolves in the top flight.
