Thiago Messi faces the daily reality of being the eldest son of one of the world’s most famous athletes, his father being none other than Lionel Messi. In a recent interview with Miguel Granados, Lionel Messi shed light on his son’s perspective. He disclosed that his eldest son isn’t particularly fond of the label “Messi’s son.”
Messi went on to discuss his three sons, explaining, “Thiago was the one we taught [not to be spoilt], then his brothers followed his lead. They have different personalities. Thiago doesn’t want to have anything to do with “being the son of…” When they’re in a game, Thiago only glances at me. Mateo on the other hand is constantly following me, applauds, waves at people”

The recent interview with Granados has unveiled intriguing insights into Lionel Messi as a father. He emphasized his commitment to being present in his children’s lives and instilling the same values that were imparted to him during his own upbringing.
Messi also took a moment to commend his former club, FC Barcelona, for its role in shaping these values. The Barcelona academy played a pivotal role in his formative years, as he joined the Spanish club’s academy in 2000 at the age of 13.
Thiago Messi doesn’t have a phone
Lionel Messi delved deeper into the values he’s imparting to his three sons, shedding light on their technology habits. Notably, none of his children, including Thiago, currently possess a cell phone.
In his interview, Messi shared, “I’m not one to use emojis on WhatsApp. None of my children have a cell phone yet. I don’t send as much audio. I prefer more messages.”

It’s worth noting that, of the three sons, only Thiago is at an age where having a cell phone would be plausible. However, Messi and his wife are intentionally delaying this milestone to set an example for their younger siblings.
Messi also offered insights into the distinct personalities of his sons, stating, “Thiago has a harder time talking. He has an easier time with [his mother] Antonela to tell her things. She is with them 24 hours a day. Mateo is more outspoken, he tells you everything, he talks and doesn’t stop. And Ciro is more reserved.”
During the summer, there was speculation that Lionel Messi’s move to Inter Miami was primarily driven by family considerations and their well-being. His recent interview affirms this perspective, as the Messi family appears to be thoroughly enjoying their life in South Florida.
