Shakira and Gerard Piqué may have moved on from each other, but their past relationship is still affecting their present situation. The new comments from the legal team of the Colombian singer point at the former FC Barcelona player for massive fines in Shakira’s tax fraud lawsuit.
Shakira has been fined more than $7.6 million for her tax fraud lawsuit for the period between 2012 and 2014. The singer reached a settlement with the prosecution on November 20 to avoid trial for the charges. As part of the settlement, the prosecution changed the jail time for the singer with fines.
Paul Molins, Shakira’s lawyer, discussed the fines with Rac1 and took some shots at Gerard Piqué. As per the calculations of Molins, the fines in this case could have been much lower if Shakira resided in Madrid instead of Barcelona during the period for which she was prosecuted. Some of the crimes that Shakira was charged with do not exist in the capital of Spain.
Singer, Shakira's lawyer has blamed her former husband, Gerard Pique for her tax woes saying she would have saved £100million by dating his rival, Sergio Ramos instead.

Molins explained the situation by bringing Pique’s old rival, Sergio Ramos, into the equation. He commented: “If she had fallen in love with Sergio Ramos and not with Pique. It would have cost her much less money. Out of six crimes, three could not have been imputed to him [Pique].”
Molins added by touching on the wealth tax situation in Catalonia and rest of the Spain: “So much so that they fill their mouths with the equality of the Spanish. If you are a resident in Catalonia you can go to prison for a crime that is impossible, with the same conduct, in Madrid, for example, because there is no wealth tax.”
Molins concluded by stating that they could have won the case, but Shakira opted to make a settlement. Shakira was in a long-term relationship from 2011 to 2022. During this period, the singer was charged with tax fraud on two separate occasions.

The on-field rivalry between Pique and Ramos as well as the off-field drama between Shakira and Pique gave ample ammo for trolls on social media to rub Pique’s name into the ground. Since the split, Pique has moved on with Clara Chia Marti. On the other end, Shakira has moved to Miami, USA with her kids to focus on her music career.
