Barcelona’s defender Sergino Dest is set to join the Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in a loan deal between the two clubs. There will be a buy option for the Dutch side at around $11 million if they want to activate it. PSV has also agreed to pay a sum that is close to half of Dest’s salary.
The Barcelona defender could earn close to $11.7 million per year at PSV. If the Dutch club decides to buy him then they will need to pay a fee of nearly $5.5 million.

The Medicals may be scheduled accordingly and the confirmation for the player joining the Dutch side could be made if everything goes well. Sergino Dest was earlier on a loan to AC Milan, where he didn’t play much. It is clear from Barcelona’s decision of loaning him out again, that the Manager Xavier Hernandez doesn’t have a spot for him in his team.
The USA star has played 8 matches this season for the Seria A club AC Milan. He has also featured 4 times in their 2022-2023 Champions League campaign. No goals or assists have been recorded by him during these outings. His playing time has also been very limited.
Sergino Dest’s contract at Barcelona
Barcelona signed the American defender for a 5-year deal in 2020 by paying an amount close to $23 Million. They signed him from the Dutch side Ajax. 2025 is supposed to be the minimum time frame for his contract. The club’s scouts were impressed with the player’s attributes. Dest also went on to represent the American national team and that added to his reputation.
Dest’s annual salary was around $6.54 Million in 2020-2021, in his first season with Barca. He persisted with the same figure in the next 2021-2022 season. However, his annual pay got around $5.4 Million in the season 2022-2023. Currently, he is on an annual fee of around $5.6 Million with Barca. If the player goes to PSV, the figures could jump for him, as he has a team like Barcelona on his CV.

The La Liga side signed him majorly to play a right-back role, however as the years went on, he didn’t get into the playing 11 for a long time and was loaned out for several seasons. The player’s age when he signed for Barcelona was around 17 years.
