French legend Thierry Henry has exposed PSG while expressing his support for Lionel Messi. Messi, who was Henry’s teammate at FC Barcelona, left PSG back in June. Despite rumors of PSG wanting to extend Messi’s contract, the latter signed for Inter Miami. However, months after Messi departed from PSG, Henry has explained why the Argentine icon couldn’t shine at the French club.

While speaking on Rothen s’enflamme, Thierry Henry how PSG failed to capitalize on Lionel Messi‘s skills. He said, “When he played with the Argentina team, a structure where there are not three Messi’s, but just him, it puts him in a framework where he alone is the boss.” The French World Cup winner highlighted that not providing a proper structure for Messi to flourish was PSG’s grave mistake.

🎙️ Thierry Henry: “Disappointed with Messi at PSG? No. I know you’re going to laugh again, but how do you play with Messi, Neymar and Mbappé at the same time?

He further went on to say that PSG couldn’t manage to play Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, and Kylian Mbappe together. However, this hasn’t been the first time that Henry has rushed to support Messi during the latter’s stint at the Parisian club. During Messi’s time at the club, he was frequently whistled at and booed by the PSG Ultras, a thing that didn’t go down well with Henry.

The 46-year-old veteran soccer legend insisted that Lionel Messi was never a problem, instead, he’s always a solution. Despite the bitter memories at PSG, Messi has found his love for soccer again at Inter Miami. The Argentine skipper has taken over the United States by storm. After winning the Leagues Cup, Messi’s Inter Miami will get a shot at winning their second-ever title during the US Open Cup final later this month.

Ex-England star criticized PSG’s trio of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar Jr

Following Lionel Messi’s signing back in 2021, PSG fans were expecting to finally win the UEFA Champions League. With players like Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar Jr, PSG looked unstoppable at one time. However, the club’s star-studded trio failed to inspire the team to any major success. Despite winning two Ligue 1 titles, Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar Jr. remained largely uninspiring in the Champions League.

Although Mbappe didn’t share the major brunt of criticism, fans didn’t spare Messi and Neymar Jr. With both Messi and Neymar leaving this season, PSG has a lot of new names in the squad. However, when asked about PSG’s chances of winning the Champions League this year in the absence of Messi and Neymar, former England star Ashley Westwood made a rather surprising statement.

Westwood claimed that Messi and Neymar‘s departure was a blessing in disguise for PSG. He stated that despite the ex-FC Barcelona duo’s incredible talent, their defensive contribution was minimal. Westwood said, “When you come against the top teams, you need 11 players to defend properly.” In addition to this, Westwood further claimed that PSG would have a great Champions League campaign this season.
