PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has finally responded to the brutal dig Lionel Messi took at his former club. Messi, who recently appeared in an interview with the Argentine journalist Migue Granados, spoke at length about his time at PSG. However, it appears as if Nasser Al-Khelaifi has had enough of their former number 30.
During the interview, Lionel Messi stated that he was the only Argentine player who wasn’t recognized by his club after winning the World Cup 2022. The Inter Miami star has also previously talked about how his relationship with the PSG fans changed after the World Cup. However, according to the French news outlet RMC Sport, Al-Khelaifi has responded to Messi’s statements.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi: “Messi’s statements? Many people are talking about it abroad. I don’t know what he did or what he didn’t say, but as everyone saw and we even published a video, we celebrated Messi in training and we also celebrated him privately (away from the spotlight), but… pic.twitter.com/CIMQV7UJcq

Nasser Al-Khelaifi said, “As everyone saw, we published a video celebrating Messi at training, and we also celebrated in private.” He further stated that despite Messi’s achievement, it’s important to highlight that PSG is a French team. Therefore, celebrating Messi’s win that came at the expense of France wouldn’t have gone down well with the fans.
The PSG president, however, remained respectful of Lionel Messi. Despite Messi mocking PSG frequently over the last few months, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has only words of admiration towards the Argentine ace. The Qatari boss called Messi an unbelievable player and also stated that PSG was proud to have a player of Messi’s caliber on their side.
Lionel Messi has no regrets about his PSG stint after winning the World Cup
Lionel Messi had a torrid time during his two-year stint at PSG. Despite a highly anticipated transfer, Messi often found himself at odds with the club supporters. The 36-year-old star was often jeered and whistled by the PSG Ultras. Messi’s former PSG and FC Barcelona teammate Neymar Jr. even described the pair’s time at the French capital as hell.
Recently, Messi even admitted that he had lost his love for soccer during his time at PSG. However, it appears as if the 2022 World Cup winner doesn’t have many regrets about his bittersweet stay at the Parisian club. Speaking in his recent interview, Messi admitted that he didn’t have a good time at PSG.
