PSG coach Luis Enrique has issued a rather bold statement about Kylian Mbappe ahead of his side’s Ligue 1 clash against Marseille. It has already been reported that Mbappe intends to finally leave PSG at the end of this season and join Real Madrid. However, in yet another twist in the Mbappe-Real Madrid saga, Enrique’s statement has managed to put the Real Madrid fans on edge.
In an interview with Prime Video ahead of PSG’s Le Classique against Marseille, Luis Enrique was asked whether tonight’s match would be Kylian Mbappe‘s final Classique appearance. To which Enrique replied, “Last Classique tonight for Mbappé? Who said that?” Enrique further said that since Mbappe has yet to officially announce his departure, the PSG star’s future remains undecided.

Moreover, Enrique further added that if PSG manages to win four titles, including the Champions League, at the end of the season, Mbappe might be tempted to continue at the French club. He said, “Imagine if we win four titles and Mbappé decides to stay at PSG… why not?” However it appears as if Enrique has changed his stance regarding Mbappe’s future at the club in recent times.
A few weeks ago, Luis Enrique decided to bench Kylian Mbappe ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 tie against Stade de Reims. When asked about the reason behind this decision, Enrique replied that the club must learn to play and adapt without Mbappe in their team. However, the PSG boss’ recent comments suggest that Mbappe’s PSG exit isn’t a done deal yet!
Luis Enrique jokingly suggests benching Kylian Mbappe against FC Barcelona for money
Meanwhile, Luis Enrique has made a shocking claim regarding PSG’s Champions League quarterfinal match against FC Barcelona. The two giants will play the two-legged quarterfinal tie next month and battle it out to secure a place in the semifinals. However, talking about the match, Enrique has claimed that he’s willing to bench Mbappe against his former club in return for money.

“Maybe I can bench Mbappé vs Barça. Donate €4M to the Xana Foundation and maybe I can bench him. Send me the invoice!” 😂 pic.twitter.com/bMeKaGOobC

A few weeks ago, Enrique made an appearance on a charity stream in honor of his late daughter, Xana, who died of cancer a few years ago. He said, “The good thing is that we [PSG] lose, at least my club wins.” Moreover, another fan asked the ex-FC Barcelona coach what it would take for him to deploy Mbappe as a center-back against FC Barcelona.
To which, Enrique jokingly replied, “Not subs, but donate €4 or €5m to this charity foundation and maybe I can rest Kylian. Send me the invoice!” Nevertheless, it is highly unlikely that Enrique is willing to stick to this plan. The 53-year-old coach is set to return to his former club after a seven-year gap. Enrique spent three years at the Catalan club as a coach, winning nine titles, including the Champions League.
