Piers Morgan is known to be a huge Arsenal and Cristiano Ronaldo fan. The journalist led a campaign last year for the Gunners to sign his favorite soccer star but to no avail. Piers has now lashed out at Arsenal fans after the North London side failed to win the Premier League.
Ronaldo left Manchester United late last year after a tell-all interview with Piers. The Portuguese was linked to various clubs before he chose to move to the Saudi club, Al-Nassr. This didn’t go down well with Piers who was furious at Arsenal for not taking the opportunity to sign him.
While talking to talkSPORT, Piers let his feelings known as he lashed out at Arsenal fans. He blamed them for laughing at him last year when he proposed the move. The journalist believed that Ronaldo’s winning mentality could have led the Gunners over the line in the title race.
Piers Morgan:
“I suggested last year that Cristiano Ronaldo would be a great signing for Arsenal. We lost the title, we had it in hand & we falted. We should have realized that having someone like Ronaldo could have helped, Not only for the goals, but for the winning mentality.” pic.twitter.com/0s7gDaWF1I

He said: “Are they laughing now? Do we not honestly think someone like Ronaldo in that run-in, when [Gabriel] Jesus got injured, that Ronaldo couldn’t have led our line and perhaps got us over the line? Not just because of the goals but because of the winning mentality.”
Arsenal led the PL table for most of the season as Mikel Arteta looked likely to win it for the Gunners this season. But the hopes were shattered by Manchester City as Arsenal dropped points in the latter half of the season losing the title to City.
Piers Morgan wins Interview of the Year award for Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview

The tell-all interview with Ronaldo had a huge effect on the whole world of soccer. In the interview, Ronaldo slammed Man United owners, board, and manager, Erik ten Hag. This led to his contract termination and his eventual move to Saudi.
In one way, the interview could be looked at as a huge factor in the global soccer scenario for the coming decades. It led to Ronaldo’s move to Saudi which was groundbreaking for the Arab country in terms of its soccer landscape.
Saudi has now attracted the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Hakim Ziyech after signing Ronaldo. The middle eastern country wants to up its stakes in the soccer world, and it all comes down to Piers Morgan’s interview of Ronaldo.
