Former Chelsea star Mason Mount made an epic blunder in front of an open goal during his new club Manchester United’s friendly clash against French club Lens. Man United won the match with a comfortable 3-1 scoreline, despite a trembling start. Mount was a pretty costly snatch for the Red Devils who had to pay $76.4 million to acquire England International’s services.
Mount missed an open net chance from Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho’s cross in the 14th minute of the game. This was during what seemed to be a perfect counter-attack tactic from Erik Ten Hag’s boys.
A few fans even took to social media to express their anger toward Mount’s performance today. Many called him a flop for missing out on such an opportunity. Fans seem to now agree with what club legend Cristiano Ronaldo had to say about United’s poor choice of players in the transfer market and the lack of players in the dressing room.

Manchester United Cruze to a comfortable 3-1 victory following a trembling start
Manchester United won their pre-season friendly match against Lens with a scoreline of 3-1. The match was quite tight in the first half. Mount missed an open net chance from inside the six-yard box from an inch-perfect cross made by Garnacho. To make things worse, Lens took the lead as Florian Sotoca scored at the 23-minute mark of the match. the scoreline remained 0-1 for the rest of the first half.
In the second half, it didn’t take the English side long to get things level as star Marcus Rashford scored in the 49th minute. The second goal for the Red Devils followed in quick succession as Brazilian winger Anthony scored just four minutes later at the 53rd minute’s mark. And former Real Madrid star Casemiro sealed United’s victory with the third goal in the 59th minute. There was no change in the scoreline for the rest of the match and Manchester United were able to turn the match around in their favor and win it.
This was Ten Hag and his men’s first club-friendly victory after losing the last three matches against Borussia Dortmund, Wrexham United, and Real Madrid. Although there were errors from the new signings, Andre Onana and Mason Mount, the performance of the rest of the team would give the fans hopes of a successful season.
