Poland has decided to sack manager, Fernando Santos. The Portuguese manager took charge of the Poland National Team back in January succeeding Czesław Michniewicz.
According to reports, following yesterday’s 2-0 defeat against Albania, Poland has lost trust in the former Portugal manager. And they have thus decided to part ways with him.
The manager has been on the hot seat for almost 9 months after he left the Portugal national team in December. So far the veteran manager has been in charge of managing Robert Lewandowski and company for 6 matches and has won three of them and has lost three.

Fans are reportedly happy with this decision as they don’t think Santos is the right man for the job. Many even took to social media to share their opinion. One fan wrote, “He’s getting what he deserved for benching Ronaldo.”
Another fan said, “You thought you could survive without Cristiano Ronaldo, the man that made you. This is what you get .” And a third fan wrote, “He was a major part of why Portugal crashed out of the World Cup. Glad to see Poland realized their mistake early”
Poland is now looking to get a better figure to take up the hot seat as they eye the upcoming Euro 2024. It is to be seen who takes up Santos’ place once his dismissal is official.
Fans unhappy with Fernando Santos’ antiques at the World Cup 2022
Former Portugal manager Fernando Santos has been one of the most talked about people since Portugal was eliminated by Morocco in the Quarter Finals of the Qatar World Cup 2022. Just five days after the incident, the manager was removed from his seat by the Portugal FA.
Santos’s decisions during the World Cup were questioned by many. His decision to bench former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and start with the youngster Goncalo Ramos was not liked by many.
Although Ramos had shown his prowess in front of the goal in the round of 16 of the tournament. In the match against Switzerland, he scored three goals and also made one assist. But fans felt that he wasn’t the right guy Santos should have started with at the Quarter Finals as the former Manchester United star was a better option for such high-intensity matches.
Following the game, fans slammed Santos for his decision. Many even took to social media to mock the manager. One fan wrote, “Sack him! You don’t bench your best and most experienced player.” Another fan said, “That’s why you’re out of the World Cup.” And a third fan posted saying, “Ego over tactics SMH he will be fired soon that’s a guarantee.”
As mentioned above, this was shortly followed by the dismissal of the manager from his duties for Portugal. He was replaced by former Belgium manager Roberto Martinez.
Santos was then hired as the manager of the Polish national team on January 24, 2023. But now it is reported that the Poland FA has decided to sack the veteran manager after a poor run.
