However, during the second game against Mexico, Alvarez‘s nerves started kicking in as it was only his first major tournament. Recently, he shared what went down in the game alongside Messi: “As soon as I came in, Leo scored THAT goal, which was incredible and the goal that unlocked everything. I had never felt so scared because we were close to being eliminated from a World Cup in the second game,” said Alvarez.
Julian also explained further that Messi had a calming aura throughout the tournament and was sure that they would win it. Now, it remains to be seen how Julian shapes his future ahead after winning almost all the glorious honors with his club and country.
Julian Alvarez has 8 goals and 7 assists this 2023-24 season up until now
Julian Alvarez has been performing exceptionally well this season for Manchester City FC in all competitions. He has given their manager, Pep Guardiola, a selection and tactical headache in terms of whom to select with so much talent at his disposal. Julian is just 23 years old and can be even better as he develops under one of the best managers in the sport.
Over the past season and a half, the 23-year-old has discovered his perfect spot in City colors, but nobody has especially focused on it. However, he remains firmly in Erling Haaland’s shadow. That is not a negative thing. However, he has 8 goals and 7 assists this 2023-24 season up until now, which are huge numbers as a bench player for him.
61% – Among players with 10+ starts for a Premier League team this season, Erling Haaland (67%) is the only player who has scored in a higher percentage of his starts across all competitions than Julián Álvarez (61% – 11/18). Depth. pic.twitter.com/7RNGDh21wa

Alvarez is the only one who has the World Cup winner’s trophy that Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero, and Hernan Crespo did not. He knew better than anybody else that his primary responsibility was to enable Lionel Messi to perform at the highest level.
It remains to see how Alvarez performs in the next matches, as he is one to watch for the future. Soccer fans all over the world are excited to watch him become even better than he is now in the future. As City faces tough matches this season, Alvarez will have a chance to prove to the world why he is the best upcoming talent in the sport of soccer.
