The last few hours have been extremely crucial as Lionel Messi edges closer to returning to FC Barcelona. After playing his final match for PSG a few days ago, Messi is all set to find a new club. There are multiple offers for Messi from Saudi Arabia and the MLS. However, the Argentine talisman reportedly has his heart set on returning to his former club.
Earlier today, Lionel Messi’s father Jorge Messi, who is also his agent, was seen in a meeting with FC Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta. Jorge Messi was soon surrounded by a horde of reporters demanding to get updates about Messi’s transfer situation. Much to the joy of the Barca fans, Jorge finally admitted that Messi wants to return to Barcelona.

Jorge said, “Leo wants to return to Barcelona and I’d love to see him back to Barça. Barça move is an option for sure.” However, further reports stated that FC Barcelona is yet to officially make Messi an offer. In the last few days, Messi’s camp reportedly told FC Barcelona to make them an offer within 10 days. However, the club was unable to do so since La Liga hadn’t yet approved its economic feasibility plan.

Although La Liga has now given their approval, Lionel Messi still hasn’t received any offer yet from the Spanish giants. Moreover, Lionel Messi’s camp has reportedly now agreed to give Barcelona some breathing space to come up with a creative solution. However, while Barca prepares its offer from Messi, there’s intense pressure from Saudi Arabia to get Lionel Messi to join them.
Saudi Arabia’s Sports Minister had confirmed Lionel Messi’s move to Al-Hilal
There have been two interesting sides to Lionel Messi’s transfer saga. On one side, FC Barcelona is trying its best to come up with an offer for Messi amid their financial fair play difficulties. Meanwhile, on the other side, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal is ready to offer Messi the biggest contract ever in soccer’s history. However, it appears as if a $1.2 billion deal isn’t enough to sway Messi’s heart from his boyhood club.
Despite offering the mega deal, Messi is yet to accept Al-Hilal’s offer. It was reported yesterday that delegates from Saudi Arabia have rushed to Paris to finalize Messi’s deal. Moreover, Saudi Arabia’s Sports Minister Abdulaziz Al-Faisal had further fuelled speculations after he announced that Messi’s move to Al-Hilal was practically a done deal.
