Kylian Mbappe is one of the biggest soccer stars in the world. The French attacker is currently the best-paid soccer player in the world. PSG signed Mbappe by breaking the bank in the first instance and naturally, are paying a lot to afford the services of the World Cup winner. Mbappe’s parents, however, reportedly laughed when they first looked at the wages of PSG stars before their son joined the ranks.
The PSG wonder kid began turning some heads when he was only a teenager. Back then, the Frenchman was playing for Ligue 1 side Monaco. Impressed by his talents, big European clubs were after Mbappe‘s signature. They saw the potential in the soccer star.
PSG was able to win the race to sign Kylian Mbappe. The French club paid a whopping $186 million for the soccer star to bring him to Paris from Monaco in 2018. To this day, this is the second-highest transfer fee paid for a soccer player, behind only Neymar, who was also signed by PSG.

Currently, the French soccer sensation is one of the best-paid athletes in the world. However, did you know that there was a time when his family laughed after hearing how much he would make at PSG? Kylian Mbappe’s mother, Fayza Lamari, shed some light on her son’s financial prospects.
“When he signed for PSG, we didn’t know how much Kylian was going to get. At the same time, we weren’t naive, and we saw the current salaries at Paris Saint-Germain. When we saw the sums, we laughed. We are incredibly lucky to have money, but it’s not an end in itself. Kylian doesn’t play soccer for the money, otherwise, he wouldn’t have succeeded in everything he does.”
The “we laughed” comment, it is believed, was made to highlight the gap in the incomes of other PSG players, and Mbappe’s wages.
How much does Kylian Mbappe make per week in PSG?
Kylian Mbappe initially signed for PSG on loan from Monaco in the 2017-2018 season. After impressing at the Parc des Princes, the Paris outfit went back to the negotiating table and agreed on a fee of $186 million with Monaco for the young French soccer star’s signature.
After 4 seasons in Paris, Kylian Mbappe was tipped to move to his “dream club”, Real Madrid, in the summer of 2022. Although right before the Spanish outfit could make a bid for their transfer target, PSG tabled a contract renewal offer that Mbappe just couldn’t refuse.

The Frenchman signed the biggest contract in soccer history earlier in 2022 with his current club PSG. The new deal will see Mbappe committing to the French side till 2024, with the option of extending till 2025. PSG’s commitment to Mbappe includes a $659 million package over the next couple of years, as reported by The Mirror. The Parc des Prince’s hierarchy pulled out all the stops to prevent Mbappe from joining Real Madrid.
The contract is even bigger than Lionel Messi‘s contract during his time at Barcelona. That’s not all, PSG has also reportedly given sporting rights to Mbappe, which includes decision-making discretion in terms of recruitment. When broken down, Mbappe’s current contract will ensure that the Frenchman earns a reported $1.4 million on a weekly basis.
