Kylian Mbappe has once again expressed his admiration for Lionel Messi after Messi played his final game for PSG last night. After weeks of controversy and speculation, PSG finally confirmed Messi’s exit yesterday. Although Messi decided to skip the Ligue 1 celebrations, Mbappe didn’t forget his teammate. On what was Messi’s last day at the club, Mbappe paid tribute to the Argentine star.
Lionel Messi was bought by PSG back in 2021 for helping them to win their first Champions League title. Unfortunately, Messi‘s PSG faced consecutive elimination in the round of 16. Despite winning two Ligue 1 titles, the PSG Ultras were disappointed with Messi’s performances. In his final few weeks, Messi was time and again booed and whistled at the Parc des Princes.
After two seasons with PSG, the adventure between Leo Messi and Paris Saint-Germain will come to an end at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
The Club wishes Leo, with undeniable emotion, many more accomplishments for the rest of his career. #MerciMessi 🔴🔵…

Kylian Mbappe, however, still thinks highly of Lionel Messi. Despite his short tenure at PSG, Messi developed a telepathic understanding with Mbappe. The French forward profited a lot from Messi’s playmaking as Mbappe once again won the Ligue 1 Golden Boot. Meanwhile, Messi got the award for the highest assists in the Ligue 1 in the 2022-23 season.

PSG played their final game of the season at their home ground against Clermont Foot last night. Although they shockingly lost 3-2, the PSG stars were in a celebratory mood as they celebrated their record-breaking 11th Ligue title. Following PSG’s title celebrations, a video emerged of the PSG players inside the dressing room where Mbappe paid his heartfelt tribute to the former Barcelona star.

The video captured Mbappe pointing to Messi and saying, “Lionel Messi, seven Ballon d’Ors. He is there, he is there!” Messi has shared a close friendship and camaraderie with Mbappe in the last two years. The 2022 World Cup hero has also called Mbappe the future best player in the world. However, Mbappe’s video has proved to be the proverbial nail in the coffin as the French forward burned all bridges to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Kylian Mbappe had previously called Cristiano Ronaldo his idol
Kylian Mbappe has frequently acknowledged Cristiano Ronaldo as his idol in the past. Mbappe greatly admires the Al-Nassr star and has admitted that he has learned a lot from Ronaldo. Mbappe had previously said, “When I was a kid, I dreamed about a lot of things, especially a career like Cristiano Ronaldo’s. When he plays, he makes everyone watching him happy. He’s been doing it for 15 years, every football fan loves him.“

In addition to this, Kylian Mbappe’s father had also once revealed his son’s love for the Portuguese star. Mbappe’s father had said, “He is a Real Madrid fan and his idol is Cristiano Ronaldo, He used to spend hours watching videos [of Ronaldo] on the internet.” However, since Lionel Messi became his teammate, the table seems to have turned.
According to MARCA, Kylian Mbappe betrayed Ronaldo and hailed Lionel Messi as the GOAT in an interview last year. After PSG’s Champions League clash against Club Brugge last year where both Messi and Mbappe bagged a brace, Mbappe said, “It’s easy to play with Lionel Messi. He’s the best player in the world. He won the Ballon d’Or a few days ago. He scored two goals today, he is happy, and I hope he will help us in the future.“
“It’s easy to play with Lionel Messi… he’s the best player in the world.” 🌍🥇

Moreover, Mbappe also recently thanked Lionel Messi during the UNFP award ceremonies earlier this week. Mbappe, who won the Ligue 1 Player of the Year, thanked all of his teammates while accepting the award. However, the former Monaco star especially thanked Messi in his acceptance speech.
