Kobbie Mainoo regrets not playing with Cristiano Ronaldo
The 18-year-old looked gutted about missing out on playing with the Portuguese player. The English youngster would have fit perfectly with Cristiano forming a formidable duo. He replied to a question posed to him during a Q&A video with Sky Sports. The interviewer had posed him a question about which Man Utd legend Kobbie Mainoo would have liked to play alongside.
To this, Kobbie replied, “Maybe I would say Cristiano Ronaldo. I missed him when I joined the first team.” Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United in November 2022, a couple of months before the English youngster had started playing regularly for ‘The Red Devils.’
Kobbie Mainoo also included legendary English midfielder Paul Scholes in the list. The midfield duo of Paul Scholes and Kobbie would have complimented each other perfectly. The 18-year-old also told the world that Ronaldinho and Wayne Rooney were his soccer idols growing up.
Kobbie reportedly used to surf YouTube for Ronaldinho’s skill compilations. Another United youngster, Alejandro Garnacho had accompanied the Englishman during the interview.
Kobbie signs a new long-term contract with Manchester United
The Englishman penned down a new deal with ‘The Red Devils’ in February 2024. Kobbie’s new deal would keep the 18-year-old at Old Trafford until 2027 with an option for a further year. This is some exciting news for the English club which is absolutely in awe of the youngster’s talent. Kobbie Mainoo will now earn a higher salary, and the long-term deal will remove any concerns over his future.

English tabloid, The Sun had earlier reported that Kobbie had already triggered a bonus on his contract. His wages had already increased to $25,000 when he made his 10th Man Utd appearance against West Ham at the beginning of February 2024. In doing so, Kobbie Mainoo became the sixth-youngest Manchester United player to make 10 appearances in the PL.
The youngster is already a guaranteed starter for the record Premier League champions. Soccer pundits have already predicted a great future for the youngster. Kobbie Mainoo just needs to keep his body fit and stay away from distractions to reach his ceiling.
