Jose Mourinho has been known for his touchline antics over the years. The 60-year-old manager has never hesitated to express his feelings on the referee’s decision during a match. However, the veteran has more often found himself in trouble for his expressive actions.
The Portuguese manager currently manages Seria A. Jose Mourinho was appointed the manager of AS Roma in July 2021. The Portugal-born manager took the club to the UEFA Europa Cup finals in the middle of 2023.
As per the reports, Jose received a red card in Roma’s recent Seria A clash against Monza. Roma’s manager was spotted gesturing towards Monza’s bench. This was after his team scored a goal in the added stoppage time to take the lead in the game.
His gesture was a resembling a cry imitation towards the Monza’s bench. The veteran manager also signaled something by getting his hands close to his mouth. In this case, Roma’s manager will miss the club’s next game against Inter Milan. Missing the manager’s presence in such an important game might hurt them. AS Roma currently sits in the seventh spot in this season’s Seria A table with 14 points. The club had won four, lost three, and drawn two out of their first nine matches.
On the other hand, Inter Milan is currently the league leader in Seria A. They have 22 points to their name. Even though Roma won against Monza 1-0, the red card to their manager had seriously dented their hopes going into the match against Inter Milan.
Jose Mourinho had the most number of red cards in Seria A during his second season with AS Roma
The 60-year-old Portuguese picked up the most number of red cards during his second season with AS Roma. Jose’s number of red cards picked up was more than any other manager or player. In Roma’s match against Cremonese in the previous season of Seria A, the veteran was booked following an outburst towards the fourth official.
It was his third red card for the season. He had been earlier shown the red card on two occasions before in the season. It was not the first time the 60-year-old lost his temper on some of the officiating decisions during a match. Fans would know that he is a pretty expressive individual.
With him being recently shown a red card against Monza in the current season, Roma fans would hope that their manager doesn’t follow up his track record of the previous season. He is an important figure for his side, whether in the dressing room or on the touchlines. AS Roma will surely miss him in their upcoming game against Inter Milan.
