SUMMARY
- Marcus Rashford has endured an unfortunate dip in form, after scoring 30 goals last season.
- Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag claimed that he knows the reason for Rashford's decline.
Marcus Rashford was sensational for Manchester United last season. He did well to fire on all cylinders for the team when Cristiano Ronaldo’s tenure at the club came to a bitter end over a turbulent relationship with Erik ten Hag. The English forward scored 30 goals in all competitions last season and won the club’s Player of The Year award and the EFL Cup.
But the player has failed to live up to the expectations he set for himself. He has scored only 8 goals and made 5 assists in 40 games this season. Last year, Wout Weghorst was leading the line for the team after Ronaldo left. This season, a young Rasmus Hojlund has been going through a rollercoaster of a ride, struggling to find the back of the net during Premier League games. Rashford’s decline, as well as Hojlund’s lack of experience, has left United struggling in front of the goal.
Recently, Erik ten Hag revealed that he knew the reason for Rashford’s dip in form. He said, “He knows, I know. It has to do with himself but also to do of course with the team. I already said our attacking game has improved a lot after the winter. But before winter our attacking game was not good enough. I think it’s always the two factors I mentioned; it’s the team and it’s himself. They are of course related to each other.”
“I have a lot of sympathy for him”

In addition to that, Ten Hag mentioned that the United community has to back the player, especially during such a time. The manager’s comments indicate that the player might be going through something crucial behind the scenes, and has unfortunately endured a dip in his performances for the club.
Erik ten Hag admits Manchester United are nowhere near the fight for the Premier League title
Manchester City and Liverpool have been fighting alongside for the title for the last few years. Arsenal joined them last season but failed to bring the trophy back to London. Manchester United has not been on the same level as these three teams in the last few years. Recently, Ten Hag admitted that United need a better squad to do so, and are currently not in the position to contend for the PL title.
🚨 Ten Hag says Man United can’t be title contenders next season: “When everyone is available, we’re competing for top-four”.
“We can come closer [to position #1/2] if we make a good transfer window”.
“We have to strengthen in key positions and also in the depth of the squad”. pic.twitter.com/Dev9WmPDuf

Although it is a bold move for a manager to say this about his team, what Ten Hag just claimed is nothing but the truth. United has been home to several players who have been putting up subpar performances, and that’s one of the reasons why they have failed to win games consistently.
Marcus Rashford is no longer PSG’s top priority
A few months ago, PSG had eyed Rashford as their priority signing to replace star forward Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman is set to join Real Madrid on a blockbuster transfer, after a long transfer saga.
🚨 Marcus Rashford’s future is in doubt, but due to him signing his £300,000 a week contract lasts summer, there is little interest. PSG links are wide of the mark, with them preferring Rafael Leao as their Kylian Mbappe replacement. [@MarkOgden_] #mufc pic.twitter.com/JogPlD260j

But it has recently been revealed that PSG are no longer interested in signing Rashford to complete their attack. Rafael Leao has emerged as a better option for the Paris-based club, and it looks like Rashford’s future is still with United. His expensive contract is one of the factors that has been repelling clubs.
