SUMMARY
- FC Barcelona is not in a healthy financial position since mid 2023.
- Barcelona have been targeting to acquire Napoli FC player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The transfer spendings by the soccer clubs are restricted in many ways and are governed by the various FFP (Financial Fair Play) rules. Even some of the biggest clubs in world soccer like Manchester City and FC Barcelona have to be cautious about managing their transfer books carefully.
A recent viral post on one of the social media platforms has stated that the music streaming platform Spotify is raising funds for the La Liga club FC Barcelona. It is so, that the club can sign Napoli FC’s and Georgian international winger Khvicha Kvaratkshkelia.

Fans around the world have reacted to this viral rumored post by expressing their opinions. One of the followers stated – “Man they (Barcelona) are down bad”. Another one chipped in and by tagging the club asserted – “It’s not supposed to be like this @FC Barcelona”.
A fan ironically stated – “Bro, not even Kvara (Kvaratskhelia) would play for them”. However, a follower wasn’t sure about the legitimacy of the viral post and inflicted – “whoever did this edit really tried”. Another one insisted – “Naa this ain’t real”. From the reactions of the fans, it can be inferred that they are amused after witnessing the viral social media post.
Is the rumored post about FC Barcelona raising funds for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia true?
FC Barcelona hasn’t been in the best of financial situations since the middle part of the year 2023. The La Liga club was charged with a major sum of fine of about €500K ($540.30K) by the UEFA. The club reportedly defaulted in showing the accurate profit proceeds related to the financial year 2022.

However, no club these days would tend to spend a major amount of money on players unless they are completely sure of not depleting the FFP rules. Whatever a team spends on a certain player constitutes a major part of their transfer budget. A player like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia can’t be signed by Barca by raising funds through alternative methods.
If they want the player, they are more likely to go for him by approaching the parent club. They would consider their current financial situation first. Also, none of the reputed media houses or online print channels have validated any such rumored post of the Spanish club raising funds through their official sponsor Spotify.

Kvaratskhelia has emerged as one of the best wingers in Europe’s top-flight soccer. He has so far six goals and four assists to his name in the ongoing Seria A 2023-2024 season. If Barcelona pursues their interest in the player, it can be inflicted that Napoli can demand a transfer fee for him marching on the higher side.
