The Belgium international Romelu Lukaku has been among the most consistent goal-scorers in the 2023-2024 UEFA Europa League campaign. The 30-year-old has raked up seven goals and one assist in just nine appearances for AS Roma in the competition.
Romelu Lukaku initially began to rediscover his lost form under AS Roma’s previous manager, Jose Mourinho. However, Lukaku is on loan from Chelsea, and AS Roma still doesn’t know whether they will have him for the next season. The 30-year-old was recently asked about his future and his loan move from Chelsea. “I have to be careful with those answers!” the forward cheekily asserted. “I don’t want any controversy with them (Chelsea) in England,” he also reportedly opined.
On his spell at AS Roma, he stated, “Here at AS Roma it’s all different, here the fans love me”. Towards his recent form, he inflicted that he seems to be doing his “best” and the club is helping him. It can be inferred that the Belgium striker seems pretty happy with the Seria A team and remains cautious about saying anything related to Chelsea.
Romelu Lukaku’s current stint at AS Roma and his loan move from Chelsea
Romelu Lukaku joined Seria A club As Roma on August 30, 2023, on loan from Premier League giants Chelsea. His current loan period with the Italian club lasts until June 2024, which is basically until the end of the ongoing 2023-2024 European top-flight soccer season.
In his 24 matches for AS Roma in the Seria A this season, Lukaku has been in a rich vein of form. In these outings, he has managed to net 10 goals and further chipped in with two assists. However, after the end of his loan, the decision regarding his future would pretty much lie in the hands of his parent club, Chelsea.
