Cristiano Ronaldo has offered a saddening update about his future, which will leave soccer fans with broken hearts. Despite turning 38 this year, Ronaldo is still going physically strong. The Portuguese star has had a strong start to this season, already scoring six goals for Al-Nassr. However, after dominating the soccer world for nearly two decades, Ronaldo has admitted that he’s uncertain about his future.

Speaking ahead of Portugal’s UEFA Euro qualifier clash against Slovakia, Cristiano Ronaldo said, “I can no longer think in the long term. Anything can happen out there and change everything. Enjoy the moment, it’s good.” He further stressed trying to enjoy the moment rather than worry about the future. Moreover, Ronaldo’s words indicated that his outlook on his future has been influenced by the death of his infant child last year.

Will you stay for the 2026 World Cup?

Cristiano Ronaldo:

“I’ll be very honest, nowadays in the last two years, I think differently. Things happened that told me to believe that life should be a moment. I can no longer think in the long term. Anything can happen out there… pic.twitter.com/6XmAowJ1vn

Back in 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez suffered the tragic loss of their baby boy, Angel. Ronaldo said, “I’ll be very honest, nowadays in the last two years, I think differently. Things happened that told me to believe that life should be a moment.” However, the Al-Nassr star did have some good news for his fans.

Ronaldo has confirmed his participation in the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024. He expressed his desire to arrive at the Euros in good form and have an excellent tournament. However, similar to Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo has yet to offer any updates about his participation in the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Cristiano Ronaldo will not trade his Champions League titles for the World Cup

Despite appearing in five different World Cup tournaments, Cristiano Ronaldo has yet to lead Portugal to their maiden World Cup title. Last year, Ronaldo’s Portugal was defeated by underdog Morocco in the quarterfinal of the 2022 World Cup. Moreover, Portuguese coach Fernando Santos’ controversial decision to bench Ronaldo also received much criticism.

Portugal’s World Cup 2022 hopes ended with Cristiano Ronaldo walking off the pitch in tears. However, Ronaldo was recently asked during an interview with Binance about whether he would trade his five Champions League titles for a World Cup. However, Ronaldo rather surprisingly rejected the trade-off, which shocked a lot of soccer fans.

🚨‼️’Will you trade all of your Champions League titles for the World Cup trophy?’

Ronaldo: No

Cristiano Ronaldo might get one last chance at winning the World Cup if he plays in 2026. The former Real Madrid star would turn 41 during the next World Cup. However, if Ronaldo and Portugal enjoy a successful run at Euro 2024, Portuguese fans might get to see Ronaldo for one last time at the World Cup.
