Pep Guardiola chooses to remain humble despite leading Manchester City to their first-ever treble. The Spanish manager insists he’s no soccer god and dismisses suggestions that he is now the greatest of all time.
The Manchester City boss answered media questions after their pre-season victory over Yokohama F. Marinos on Sunday. A Japanese reporter congratulated Pep for the second treble of his career and proceeded to ask for his viewpoint on the claims of some experts and fans who believe that Pep Guardiola is the ‘GOAT’ (Greatest of all time) manager after last season.

Pep began to answer the question, saying, ‘I am not a god – and I don’t have any intention to be one.’ The reporter cut in to clarify, ‘I didn’t say God, it’s GOAT, Greatest of all time.’ Pep realized his mistake and added, ‘Oh, not even that,’ proceeding to laugh at the interaction.
The reporter followed up with a question, asking whether he is just being humble, to which Guardiola replied, ‘I am not that either. No, it’s the truth. I know myself perfectly. I live with incredible doubts in my head. Not at all, honestly.’
The legendary manager has won 34 trophies as the manager of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, including two historic trebles for Barcelona and Manchester City. Guardiola’s humility shines through despite achieving remarkable success within European Soccer in the last 15 years.
Julia Roberts breaks Pep Guardiola’s heart again!
Even a historic treble isn’t enough to sway Julia Roberts’ allegiance away from Manchester United. The American actress is one of Pep Guardiola’s three idols, alongside Michael Jordan & Tiger Woods.
Julia Roberts was spotted watching the Red Devils take on Arsenal in a pre-season friendly at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday. This appearance won’t sit well with Pep Guardiola. The Manchester City boss once declared himself a ‘failure’ because Julia Roberts visited Manchester to watch United instead of his side, Manchester City, in 2016.
“Julia Roberts went to see Man Utd, not us!” 😢
Even three consecutive Champions League titles won’t take away Pep’s pain of knowing his idol chose the red half of Manchester 😆🤣 #UCL pic.twitter.com/vwmWNzdfao

Pep Guardiola would have been hoping that he was slowly swaying Julia toward the noisy neighbors of Manchester United after the treble win. Roberts even congratulated the manager on his accomplishments with Manchester City back in June.

However, the latest appearance of the actress for Manchester United confirms that Pep Guardiola is still far away from convincing his idol to watch his side in action over their rivals.
Pep Guardiola will now shift his focus to their upcoming matches with Bayern Munich on July 26 and Atlético Madrid on July 30.
