Manchester United have finally given an update on Mason Greenwood, as the club released a statement. The club recently issued a statement a few hours ago explaining why they have been silent for so long. Since Greenwood‘s charges were dropped earlier this year, the club has been conducting an internal investigation. However, the club’s inability to make a decision has left Manchester United fans fuming.
Manchester United released its statement earlier today that reads, “Following the dropping of all charges against Mason Greenwood in February 2023, Manchester United has conducted a thorough investigation into the allegations made against him. This has drawn on extensive evidence and context, not in the public domain, and we have heard from numerous people with direct involvement or knowledge of the case“.

The club further stated that they have maintained the victim’s welfare and anonymity while considering her perspective. The reason why there hasn’t been any update about Mason Greenwood yet is because of intensive internal deliberation. The club has also explained that the final decision will ultimately be taken by the Chief Executive Officer. After the CEO makes his decision, it will be announced and explained to the club’s internal and external stakeholders soon.
Fans go ballistic on Manchester United following rumors of Mason Greenwood’s return
Although no decision has been made about Mason Greenwood yet, there are reports that the player is set to make his return. Greenwood has been suspended from the club since January 2022, having been arrested after his girlfriend Harriet Robson accused him of s*xual assault and r*pe. Greenwood’s charges, however, were dropped in February this year after CPS explained that several key witnesses have withdrawn.

Since then, the club has been conducting its investigation on Greenwood. United also reportedly have been in consultation with their women’s team’s opinion regarding Greenwood’s future. However, with rumors emerging that the 21-year-old star is set to return to the squad, fans have become furious. Several United supporters are against his return, with one fan even saying, “He should have been arrested“.
