Manchester United are currently involved in a dramatic takeover saga that began in November last year. The Red Devils were put on sale by the Glazers after falling off with the fans. The American owners have been accused of leeching off United’s resources.
The Glazers took over Man United in 2005 which was backed by loans taken against the club’s assets. The huge amount of debt the club was forced into by the Glazers didn’t go down well with fans and they protested.
The American owners have now been accused of not investing a single penny into United. Rather, they have been making money from United and taking it out in the form of dividends. The revelation which was already known to some fans was made recently by journalist Samuel Luckhurst.

The fans have reacted furiously to this news and have made known their hatred for the Glazers. One such fan stated that all the big money transfers made by United were funded by the club’s own resources and not the Glazers’.
They said: “But they spend lots of money” they don’t spend anything they just use the clubs money”
United is known for making some record-breaking moves like that of Paul Pogba and Harry Maguire. But it is quite fascinating that the money for these didn’t come from the owners but from the club itself.
Glazers destroy Erik ten Hag’s transfer plans
The current United owners have stalled the takeover process significantly for the past few months. They are doing so to generate the highest possible bid from the two frontrunners, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatar’s 92 Foundation.
There were rumors of an exclusivity contract being given to Qatar but it was refuted later on. As things stand, the takeover will at least take 40-50 days to complete even if the Glazers accept a bid tomorrow.

This has led to a huge crisis for Erik ten Hag in the transfer market. The Dutch boss did a good job in his debut season in England and would have wanted reinforcements going into the next season. But he has been left clueless as United are in search of their new owners.
The club has been linked with Mason Mount and Harry Kane but there has been nothing concrete so far. This has led to a stale start to the transfer window as rival clubs have already started making moves.
United fans held a protest recently to try and force the Glazers out during the new kit launch. But it seems like Glazers would be taking their time to make sure they make a lot of money even while moving out of United.
