He recently opened up about his struggles at Arsenal and how he is preparing for his comeback.
In a recent interview, Gabriel Jesus talked about how he has lost his place in coach Mikel Arteta’s lineup. Arteta has been currently picking former Chelsea star Kai Havertz over Jesus in the starting XI. However, Jesus appears to have no hard feelings and instead looks determined to fight for his spot. He said, “You have to fight to play. If you are not playing the best thing you have to do is try to help.”

Additionally, Jesus also expressed his admiration for Kai Havertz and praised the German forward for the work he put in. Moreover, the Brazilian international agreed that at this stage of the season, it was important that he put his ego aside and focus on how he could help his team. Currently, Arsenal is in the running for the Premier League as well as the Champions League title.
Jesus’s side is currently at the top of the table with 71 points and is being closely pursued by Liverpool (71) in second place and Manchester City (70) in third. On the other hand, Mikel Arteta’s men are in the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time since 2010. The Gunners will face their familiar foe, Bayern Munich, at their home stadium for the first leg on April 9th.

Speaking ahead of the match, Jesus talked about facing Bayern Munich. He admitted that while Bayern Munich have some of the best players in the world, Arsenal will try their best to keep them quiet. The former Manchester City star also heaped praise on Bayern forward Harry Kane and called him “the best finisher in the world.” Lastly, Jesus will also be reunited with his former City teammate Leroy Sane who joined Bayern Munich in 2020.
Gabriel Jesus opens up on his injury struggles
Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus also reflected on his struggles with injury that has led to a dip in his form. This season, Jesus has had the bad luck of suffering as many as three injuries that kept him on the sidelines. At the start of the season, Jesus was ruled out with a knee problem. In October, Jesus suffered a hamstring strain before injuring his knee again a couple of months ago.
Jesus opened up about his injury problems and said, “I don’t remember the last day I played football without pain so I cannot complain.” Nevertheless, the 27-year-old forward disclosed that he’s trying to focus on helping Arsenal to the best of his ability and on recovering from each game as well as he can. Although, Jesus is expected to be ready and start against Bayern Munich tonight.
