SUMMARY
- Florentino Perez was asked whether Kylian Mbappe will move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.
- Carlo Ancelotti has perfectly adapted to his new squad with the 4-4-2 diamond formation.
Florentino Perez was on cloud nine after Real Madrid crushed their eternal rivals, FC Barcelona, to win the Spanish Super Cup on January 14. After the victory, the Real Madrid president faced some familiar questions about the summer activity of the club, involving Kylian Mbappe.
Perez was asked whether the French superstar will move to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2024. However, this time around, the Real Madrid president was more focused on the present and enjoying his current crop of players. Perez replied: “Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid? This is not the day to comment on that topic”. Real Madrid are enjoying these players.”
Real Madrid is indeed enjoying their current forward line, as Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo were both on target when Los Blancos humiliated Barcelona 4-2 in Saudi Arabia. The Brazilian duo scored all four goals, where Vinicius Jr. scored a first-half hat trick.

In La Liga, they have a chance to go top of the league, as Girona dropped points this week with a draw against Almeria on January 14. Meanwhile, they cruised to the top of their UCL group, including FC Barcelona’s next opponent, Napoli. All this without a world-class center forward in the squad.
Carlo Ancelotti has perfectly adapted to these new conditions with 4-4-2 diamond formation. The Italian manager has also renewed his contract at the Spanish club, which has provided more stability to Real Madrid. The Spanish club is secure going into the summer transfer window in June 2024. They are in a strong position to assess their options and move as they wish in the transfer saga of Kylian Mbappe.
Florentino Perez surpassed Santiago Bernabéu in Real Madrid
This latest title was monumental for Florentino Perez. He is now the most successful president in the history of Real Madrid. Perez surpassed the legendary Santiago Bernabéu with his 33rd title for the Spanish club. Perez has spent more than 20 years at his position in two different stints.
Perez’s first stint as club president started in the summer of 2000. He started the famous Galácticos era during his first stint from 2000 to 2006. He was replaced by Ramón Calderón who kept the job for only two years before being replaced by Vicente Boluda who only stood as club president for 125 days. Perez returned as president in the summer of 2009 and has kept his job for the last 14 years.

The accomplishment is impressive considering Bernabéu won 32 titles during his single stint of 34 years, 264 days from 1943 to 1978. Santiago Bernabéu’s era was cemented when Real Madrid named the current home stadium after him. Maybe in the future, the name of the stadium can be replaced with Florentino Perez for his accomplishments at the club.
