Louis Van Gaal accuses FIFA for Argentina’s World Cup victory
Argentina won the FIFA World Cup in December 2022. Many fans around the world were celebrating their win and were happy for their favorite player Lionel Messi to finally fulfill his dream. However while many were rejoicing their victory some had different opinions on that.
Louis Van Gaal, former manager of the Netherlands during the World Cup, accused FIFA of Argentina’s World Cup victory. “I won’t delve into this too deeply,” Van Gaal remarked to Dutch media outlet “NOS” Sports. “When you analyze how Argentina scored their goals and how we scored ours, you’ll understand.”

He further added, “Some of their players clearly crossed the line and yet remained unpunished. Consequently, I believe this match was entirely prearranged. Do I believe Messi should be the world champion? I do.” This raised a lot of controversy in the soccer community.
Van Gaal was not the only one, “We conceded an unexpected goal,” said Pepe, the veteran Portuguese defender accusing FIFA of being biased towards other teams and especially Argentina. He was also very annoyed with FIFA assigning an Argentinian referee for a Portugal match.

After Croatia’s semifinal defeat, captain Luka Modric cried out, “I don’t believe in the penalty decision,” expressing shock at the referee’s call that favored Argentina. It’s clear that this choice changed how the game turned out. All said and done, these calls by players do raise doubts in a neural soccer fan’s mind.
