Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag practically made up his mind about the future of Mason Greenwood. Greenwood, United’s one-time prodigy, controversially left the club earlier this year after a long trial about his ra*e conviction. However, according to Ten Hag’s words, it appears as if Greenwood won’t be returning to United after all.
During a recent press conference, Erik ten Hag was asked about the return of some Manchester United players. Currently, United is having a tough after losing a number of their important players to injuries. The list includes names like Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Casemiro, and so on. However, Ten Hag refused to include Greenwood’s return along with the aforementioned players.

Since getting cleared of all charges, Mason Greenwood was expected to return to the United squad. However, after massive protests from the fans, both the player and the club decided that it was in the best interest of everyone if Greenwood stayed away from the club for some time. Hence, the Red Devils loaned out the England international to the Spanish club Getafe.
However, with Greenwood’s loan deal ending at the end of this season, it appears as if United doesn’t want him back. Currently, almost every report suggests that Greenwood is likely to continue his career in Spain. However, neither Greenwood nor Manchester United have yet addressed the situation.
Getafe plans to break their transfer record in their pursuit of Mason Greenwood
In the meantime, Getafe is planning on breaking the bank in their attempt to permanently keep hold of Mason Greenwood. Since moving to Spain, Greenwood has managed to shut his haters with his performance. Despite being sidelined from professional soccer for more than a year and a half, Greenwood has been a sensational signing for the Madrid-based club.
The 22-year-old star has three goals and four assists in 14 appearances in La Liga this season and has even generated the interest of clubs like FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, Getafe is reportedly willing to pay United $51.2 million to permanently sign Greenwood. It would be a record-breaking move for the club, with its previous transfer record standing at $13.1 million for signing Marc Cucurella from FC Barcelona in 2020.
