Erik ten Hag’s clash with Jadon Sancho has once again put Manchester United in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Following Mason Greenwood’s controversial departure from United, the club had hoped that the storm had settled down. However, with Sancho’s falling out and allegations of assault against Antony, soccer fans have slammed Erik ten Hag for his squad management.
Since Erik ten Hag removed Jadon Sancho from the squad list for Manchester United‘s match against Arsenal, Sancho has had a rather public falling out with Ten Hag. However, as per reports, Erik ten Hag’s dissatisfaction with Sancho isn’t a new development. The Athletic has claimed that Ten Hag imposed a new rule last season to improve Sancho’s discipline.
🚨 The problems between Jadon Sancho and Erik ten Hag and his staff date back to last season, when Ten Hag tried to get Sancho to arrive on time by scheduling him at least an hour earlier than the rest of the team.

Sancho allegedly used to arrive late for team meetings. Therefore, Ten Hag used to schedule Sancho an hour earlier than the rest of his teammates to get him to arrive on time.
While Erik ten Hag‘s tactics were successful initially, Sancho gradually fell back into his past ways. However, amid the ongoing conflict, Ten Hag has been criticized by fans for failing to manage his squad efficiently.

Some fans have even gone to the extent of comparing Erik ten Hag with Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. Guardiola and Klopp have enjoyed massive success at Manchester City and Liverpool respectively. Moreover, the two veteran coaches have rarely been at odds with their players. Thus, the fans feel that Ten Hag should take ideas from Guardiola and Klopp on how to manage his squad.
Cristiano Ronaldo had reportedly asked ex-Manchester United coach to drop Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho’s problems at Manchester United have been persisting even before Erik ten Hag joined the club as a manager. Despite his highly anticipated $94 million move from Borussia Dortmund to United, the England international has failed to live up to the expectations. Moreover, his conflict with Ten Hag might even lead to his eventual departure from the club.
As per the news outlet The Athletic, Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the first people at United who was unhappy with Sancho at the club. During Ronaldo’s second stint at the club, he reportedly asked then-Manchester United coach Ralf Ragnick to drop Sancho from the squad. Ronaldo had suggested a change in formation that would see Sancho not feature in the starting XI.

Ragnick, however, refused to give in to the Portuguese skipper’s demands. Although Sancho and Ronaldo were rarely seen playing on the pitch together. In his 78 appearances for the club, Sancho has scored just 11 goals and provided six assists. However, despite United wanting to sell the 23-year-old, Sancho might return to the squad due to Antony’s current unavailability.
